Julie and Natasha

For Julie and Natasha, they wanted Purple...

Nothing to big, just some nice roses to compliment her dress and some table centres to make the room look nice.  Unfortunately, we could not get a picture of the final room as they had their civil ceremony in the same room... but you can get an idea for the bridal designs..

Natasha's adult wand that had Ocean Song Lilac Roses, Purple Veronica and Purple Lisianthus and was wrapped with a deep purple satin ribbon.

For the bridesmaids, an Avalanche Rose Adult Wand, with Purple Lisianthus and Purple Veronica.

Natasha's buttonhole (sorry about the really naff picture)

And, the chair covers that we did for their civil room.

We hope you have a long and happy life together and thanks very much for choosing us to do your flowers for your big day.... lots of love Paula xx

It all started with a Gerbera

It all started with the love of a Gerbera....

Anna loved them....  so when I told her I knew of a Black and White variety that would fit perfect with her scheme, I think that cemented her ideas.

And, what a lovely bride Anna was, so unasuming and so funny, I totally "got" her jokes.  Anna's Mum was one of the nicest people I have ever met and I am sorry in a way this is over, I just hope they pop in from time to time to say hello... mind you, we have been promised cake so, we'll see ;).  Only a small slice though Anna, this florist has got to get in shape.

Anyway, onto the flowers.  Anna wanted a shower bouquet that incorporated Gerberas.  We decided between us that we should put in some other varieties also and we settled on White Gerbera with a dark centre, Lisianthus, Freesia and Akito Roses.

And for the bridesmaids, a handtied bouquet of Gerbera with black satin ribbon on the stems.

For the mums, a corsage of spray roses and satin ribbon.

And, we mustn't forget the groom.  He wore a white Gerbera with Lisianthus and Freesia.

For the tables Anna chose a fishbowl with black water and floating white Gerbera.

And it was no surprise that the top table design was filled with Gerbera too....

We had a few Gerberas left on the day so we popped them in a vase for Anna (we always take spares, just in case...).  And we put them next to the post box that we made for Anna and Matt.

Just a glimpse of what the room looked like overall in The Alma Lodge Hotel, Stockport.

And, on her last consultation, just at the last minute, they both made the exciting decision to be the first people to test our Victoria Sweet Cart.... and how glad was I.  I got to play with sweets and get all arty with them, check out the close ups.  It looked quirky, fun and suited Anna down to the ground.

A close up of the sweet delights that they were met with.

So, I would personally like to thank Anna, her mum and Matt for choosing us to do their wedding.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them.

Congratulations from all the flower team at About Flowers

A few favourites of mine

I was just browsing through my pictures and noticed a couple of bouquets that I have not put on my blog so I thought I would share them in case they offer inspiration to any brides for next year.

The heart shaped bouquet with wire and diamante accessories went down great with the bride.

With matching heart handbag....

A vintage accessorised bouquet, adorned with brooches and pearls makes for a really unusual design...

An ivory bouquet with grass edging and Orchid and skeleton detail, accessorised with diamante.

So, anyway, hope you enjoyed these bridal bouquets, I remember doing each one like it was yesterday because each had their own unique design feature.

A White Wedding

Lisa and Danny, a really lovely couple....

I have known Lisa most of my life and when I chat to her my most favourite memories of my childhood come flooding back to me of me, her and Clare....   St Michael's Junior School... coniston, Mr Forkin, playing house and much much more!!

Anyway, back to the wedding.  Lisa asked if we would do her flowers, she chose her favourite colour, green, always Jade Green at school, and I remembered!!  I probably wouldn't know even my husband's favourite colour but I remembered Lisa's.

So before I turn this whole blog into me and my memories, have a look at how beautiful Lisa looks on her and Danny's big day!!

Light Up Your Day..

Making your day a big brighter!!

New, our light up vases.  Showcased below, submerged White Calla Lillies and Pink Dendrobian Orchids.  Comes with a mirror and available in a range of colours.  Roses are also great for submerging in this type of design.

Last Minute Wedding Orders

So would you believe on the day of the blue wedding, later on we had a last minute order for a renewal of the vows service.  The husband was doing a surprise for his wife... How sweet, so how could I not blog.

He asked for Blue Hydrangea and Blue Thistle, and what did we have sitting in the bucket feeling lonely, yep you guessed it Blue Hyrdangea and Blue Thistle.

So, in our true creative nature, we whipped up a couple of designs and asked him to come back in a couple of hours....

And how could I not share!!

I was really thrilled that our left over flowers got an outing as well, hope this couple had a great day!!  And, many more happy years ahead xx

Blues, blues and more blues....

Cath decided on blue and what a fabulous colour choice it turned out to be.  I can't take much credit for this one to be honest, it was all Cath's idea.  But we did execute her ideas and I hope you like them as much as we did....

Hand tied bouquet of Blue Roses, Hyrdrangea and Thistle.

And for the drinks reception, Cath even dressed the room with chair covers and balloons.

Congratulations to you both, thank you so much for letting us do this.  We had lots of fun and really liked the outcome on this one..

Lots of love Paula xx

The Blackpool Themed Wedding in Haydock

When Katie came to see me and told me she had a blackpool theme, I thought oh my god, how can we do that with flowers.  But then, when she told me her colours, I have never been so excited.

Katie described the the love story behind the blackpool theme as "a bit embarrasing", I call it romance encaptulated..... a true fairytale, the perfect idea.

Mixing up certain colour pallets really can provide you with such a wonderful impact on your wedding day.

And, I am not the only one who liked it, Katie's wedding is going to be featured in a well known wedding magazine....  watch this space!

GREEN - PURPLE - BROWN - PINK

This is what we came up with......  Congratulations Katie and thanks for letting us be part of this journey with you.

A shower bouquet with a mixture of Amnesia Roses, Lisisanthus and Spray Roses.

For the pink bridesmaid......

For the green bridesmaid.....

For the purple bridesmaid........

And for the flowergirl..... a mix of all the colours!

For the groom.

The pink tables had pink candleabra...

The purple tables had purple candleabra....

And yes, you guessed it the green table had green candleabra.

The top table was swagged with voil and organza.

Above and below, look at how good all the colours looked together.  The bunting and all the other decorations that Katie chose looked fab.

Congratulations to you both, now all we need is a picture of the bride modelling the bouquet.

I am sure you all had fun, how could you not.

Purple and Pink flowers for Lisa and Paul

Lisa and Paul, a couple from Widnes chose us to do their wedding stationery, wedding flowers and venue decoration.  Judging by their comment on our facebook page, I think they were pretty happy with what they did.

"Hi Paula, Just wanted to leave you and all your staff a message to say thank you so much for all that you did for our wedding! The room looked amazing, the flowers were perfect, the invites, the post box, the chair covers! wow the list goes on. It all came together so well and was just fantastic! You really did help to make our day perfect. Thank you so much Love Lisa and Paul xxxx"

Anyway, we will let their cerise and purple flowers speak for themselves....  the pictures were took in a light that does not show their colour perfect, but you get the general idea dont you!!

The bridal bouquet consisted of cerise roses, purple gladiolus, pink bouvardia and purple lisianthus.  Not to mention a splash of purple and cerise pink dendrobian orchids.

Similar flowers were used throughout the designs...

Three of the bridesmaids had pink....

Three of the bridesmaids had purple....

The groom had a bit of both.

Colours were mixed in the venue decoration and we think it had great impact.

Lisa and Paul chose two different types of table centre.  They had six of these gerbera designs with black birch and skeleton leaves.

And six of these fishbowls with cerise gerbera floating in them.

And, to top it off.... they had a purple and pink top table design that was used in their civil room first and then put on their top table.  We always encourage dual use of flowers..

Thanks for choosing us guys, we appreciate it so much.

Lots of love Paula xxx
